## ConsensusDay 1

On Saturday, February 2, 2019, [Protocol Labs Research](https://research.protocol.ai/) hosted our inaugural ConsensusDay 1. This day-long research symposium, held on the Stanford University campus, was dedicated to the topic of [consensus protocols](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Consensus_(computer_science)) and included twelve presentations from consensus researchers as well as workshop discussions.

Given the high-bandwidth discussions and cross-pollination of ideas that occurred at ConsensusDay 1, Protocol Labs Research will hold more of these events in the future. We will also soon be announcing other day-long research conferences on assorted topics. We will make future research event announcements on this blog.

Lastly, we would like to note that the [Protocol Labs Request for Proposals (RFP) program](https://github.com/protocol/research-RFPs) currently has an open RFP, offering up to $200,000 to solve the Secret Single-Leader Election problem described [here](https://github.com/protocol/research-RFPs/blob/master/RFPs/rfp-6-SSLE.md). We welcome all applications before the **March 13, 2019** deadline.
